Changes in the Fusion HCM Cloud Service specialization

Oracle have recently updated the requirements for the Fusion HCM Cloud Service Specialization program. Previously, there was a set of exams that partners had to get employees through and a client reference to attain. Now the specialisation is a lot more involved:

Previously the requirements were:

1x Fusion HCM 11g Sales Specialist
1x Fusion HCM 11g PreSales Specialist
1x General Product Support Assessment (v3.0)

plus 1 pass in either:
Fusion HCM 11g Human Resources Implementation Specialist, or 
Fusion HCM 11g Talent Management Implementation Specialist

A total of four exams – plus the reference – would have been enough. For companies already specialised on this program – and Succeed is one of these – this only lasts until October.

The program has now changed …

To retain the specialisation past this date, the requirements are now:

3x Fusion HCM 2014 Sales Specialist
3x Fusion HCM 2014 PreSales Specialist
3x Fusion Apps 2014 User Experience Specialist
1x General Product Support Specialist (v4.0)
3x Fusion HCM 2014 Data Specialist
3x Fusion HCM 2014 Reporting Specialist 
3x Fusion HCM 2014 Security Specialist

plus 3 passes in any of:
Fusion Global HR 2014 Certified Implementation Specialist,
Fusion HCM: Talent Management 2014 Certified Implementation Specialist, 
Fusion HCM: Compensation 2014 Certified Implementation Specialist, 
Fusion HCM 11g Human Resources Certified Implementation Specialist, or
Fusion HCM 11g Talent Management Certified Implementation Specialist

This comes to a total of 22 exams, plus 3 customer references.

Whichever way you cut it (whether it’s 22 individuals taking an exam each, or 3 individuals each taking 7-8 exams) it’s a big investment of time. For the tier 1 SIs this isn’t a big issue as they have the sheer weight of numbers to power through these requirements. For the smaller specialist consultancies this is a significant investment to make. Although they may well have employees with deeper product knowledge than the Tier 1’s, it could still take a couple of weeks to prepare for and take 7 exams.
